High-speed disc conveyors ensure reliable transport in working positions ranging from a horizontal up to an upright one. The basic moving part consists of a rope assembly with plastic discs mounted on the rope at regular intervals. The rope moves between two end wheels of a special design. The wheels are placed in stainless steel cases of the top and bottom stations which are interconnected with two pipes.
In comparison to chain or bucket conveyors, the rope with the discs moves at a higher speed. The discs are loosely aligned with the pipes and cases, and, given their high speed of movement, they move both the material and air. This way, even materials which would otherwise lack fluidisation properties become aerated (fluidised). EDL is therefore able to perform much better than other conveying systems of a similar size, weight or price category. Furthermore, in comparison to most other means of transport, there is considerably less damage to the conveyed material.
